From the Interim Dean and Priest-in-Charge
With a heavy heart, I share with you that Jeffrey McLellan died suddenly and unexpectedly this week at his home in the desert. Jeffrey was a beloved member of this congregation, co-chair of the food pantry for nearly a decade, a faithful acolyte of the 8am service, using his beautiful voice as a reader on Sunday mornings, and a dear friend to many within and beyond this church community. His partner was with him at the time death, and we extend our deepest heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends. Let us pray:
O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day our brother Jeffrey. We thank you for giving him to us, his family and friends, to know and to love as a companion on our earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life, so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until, by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our understanding: Deal graciously with the family and friends of Jeffrey in their grief. Surround them with your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss, but have confidence in your goodness, and strength to meet the days to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
A service will hopefully be held here at St. John’s Cathedral in the near future. More information will be shared as it becomes known.
With love and blessings,
Anne+
