From the Interim Dean and Priest-in-Charge
Easter is about to dawn. Dawn comes in the morning as light begins to grow as the sun rises and new life springs forth. Dawn always comes after darkness. The light of Easter is the empty tomb discovered by women long ago. Death is no more, pain and suffering are no more, only life everlasting through the love of the Risen Christ.
The Gospel according to Luke tells us that the men in dazzling clothes stood beside them
saying, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.” The women remembered what Jesus had told them before his death, and they told the apostles who did not believe – except for Peter, who ran to see for himself.
It is widely accepted that the author of Luke is also the author of the Book of Acts. On Easter, in the reading appointed from Acts, we will hear the ancient story of what we hold true – how Jesus came preaching peace, how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed, and how we are commanded to do the same.
Come, please join us this Sunday at 10am to hear Bishop John Harvey Taylor proclaim this Good News once again. For Christ is Risen, Alleluia. The Lord is risen indeed.
Happy Easter, with love and blessings,
Anne+
