Weekly Update | June 30, 2024
Please be patient with us this week! Mr. Kyle Black, the dear staff member in the front answering doors and calls, and the dedicated team member behind the scenes making most things happen is on vacation next week – thanks be to God. He works so hard; we could not be happier that he is taking well-earned paid time off to have a little fun and attend a conference for organists, another gift among his many talents. We sent him off (for one week!) with our blessings as of yesterday; St. John’s will not be the same without him.
You are likely to encounter the Rev. Mel Soriano on campus during the day next week from 8am – 4pm Mon-Wed. Offices will be closed for the 4th of July on Thursday (7/4) and Friday (7/5). Our wonderful Sextons, Mr. Sobhan Nouri and Mr. Heyden Morales, will be onsite and available to assist when needed. I will be available by email and phone in the midst of moves both near and far. Our Senior Warden Canon Lurelean Gaines will also be on call. Not much happens without her exceptional leadership and loving support along the way.
Summer activities will begin when we are all back and includes a vestry retreat, gardening guild, multiple packing parties as we move through the summer into fall, a gathering for newcomers, walks to learn more about our neighborhood, and several fun parish life ministries and events.
We hope you will join us. This is our cathedral home, and you – dear people of God, are a blessing to us all.
